"I'm about to confess something that will either delight you -- which I hope is the case, that would be nice -- or it will make you furious." - Julian Sark, Alias - "The Second Double"

She didn't want him dead. Whether for the reasons she said, or because he was her daughter's friend, I do not know, but Irina said not to kill him. They were, however, going to get to Allison if they were not able to truly pin it on him. It seemed the perfect plan at the time. Assault the convoy, attack the agents, make it look like Will was killed in the crossfire as we tried to rescue him. Had it gone properly, it would have been perfect and thoroughly covered Allison's tracks. We could have even maintained surveillance on Sydney, keeping Allison in play for months, perhaps years, longer.

Except they bungled it, and Tippin had a far stronger knack for staying alive than I had planned on. Not only did they not kill him, he escaped and was running around free with time and the talent to figure out who had set him up, and how, which left Allison most definitely at risk, though it, at least, left Tippin alive, despite my best efforts.

All of which I had to go tell Irina. Luckily, fortune tends to favor me, and Will being alive and free with Sydney wanting to clear him gave us the chance to get the NSA security key card in exchange for proof of her dear friend's innocence, so, well. Everyone got what they wanted, in the end. Except me, who ended up in prison for two years. And Sydney, who ended up a double agent again while the love of her life married another agent, and then lost two years of her life. And Tippin, who, well, ended up in witness protection. And Vaughn, who married a traitor. But Irina got what she wanted, I suppose, and didn't kill me for going against her orders, and everyone seems fairly happy now, except Irina who died from an entirely unrelated incident, so.

No harm done, right?
