Julian Sark

Mun's Note: Not a great deal is known about Sark's background canonically, including his full given name. He is the son of Andrian Lazarey, a Russian diplomat and a descendant of the Romanovs. He was sent away to study in England at a very young age. His father was physically abusive. And he's always sort of considered Irina Derevko as something of a mother-figure for what she taught him. That's all we're given, so I've taken the liberty of filling that out in the time I've been writing and playing him. As canonically Irina's dead and she's the only one I'm sort of writing in a shared history with, I hope no one minds, and if an Irina-muse shows up and would like to take the shared history as hers, great. If not, I'm happy to tweak for interaction, but this is sort of where I've been writing him from for a year now. :-)

* Born in 1981 to Andrian Lazarey and his wife in Moscow, and a descendent of the Romanov family, Julian Andrianovich Lazarey was sent away to London to school at age 5. (my supposition)

* Irina Derevko came for him when he was 10, taking him to her compound in Galway for the winter holidays and began his training. He spent the rest of his holidays with her. [Prompt reference] (my supposition)

* He started doing work for Irina both as training and for real very young. [Prompt reference] (my supposition as to what, but he had to start working for her very young canonically as well in some fashion and was, undoubtedly, her protégé)

* He went to Eton, then to Cambridge where he studied Social and Political Sciences, taking a great deal of amusement in the fact that they combined a track of politics and psychology. He took a great deal of classes in the classics department as well.

* At the age of 21, he became Irina's Director of Operations. (canon)

* He spent 2 years in CIA custody, which didn't really make him rethink his life choices. It just fired his ambition to make more of a name for himself instead. And he really, really hates that they cut his hair. (canon)

* He was freed from CIA custody by the Covenant who wanted the $800 Million his father had left him. Bitter that they took his fortune then treated him like a foot soldier, he arranged a coup with Lauren Reed to become one of their cell leaders. (canon)

* He was once again captured by the CIA, and tortured by Michael Vaughn, but for once in his life, he didn't talk immediately, holding out for long enough that Vaughn broke several bones and beat him severely before he gave up Lauren's location. (canon)

* He escaped CIA custody again several months later when they needed him for an operation, and spent the next year attempting to go straight. (canon - Marshal says, "I thought he was out of the game.")

* Bored out of his mind with whatever he was doing, he re-entered the espionage game a year later as a free-agent, working for whomever is willing to meet his fee. On one such job he met Rachel Gibson, C.I.A. agent. They had a fling. He really liked her a lot. (canon)

* He really didn't want to torture her. He really didn't want to leave her to die. He really didn't want to blow up A.P.O. He really didn't want to blow up D.C. or London, either, really--but he still did it all. It's not a moral center--God forbid--but he just wants to be on the winning side. And following Irina is hardwired into his blood. (canon + my suppositions)

* Upon Irina's death and Sloane's entombment, his nest egg got a lot bigger, he got his own plane, and he picked up their contacts. He took some time to grieve for Irina (and it was real grief, as with Lauren), and then re-entered the game as an independent contractor, and is trying to sort out if that's enough in life, or if he should be using the resources at his disposal to be building his own empire and working toward his own endgame. He's been feeling slightly dissatisfied with his professional life lately, but isn't quite sure what direction to head in. (mine, RP developed, post-canon stuff)

Physical Description: 6'0", blonde hair he prefers to wear just long enough that it starts to curl and jelled, baby blue eyes, and a somewhat crooked smile--when he smiles. He's far more likely to be smirking.

RP Information

Sark plays in a few different RP scenarios/universes and I am always open to expanding those or to PSLs. Just ping me and ask! :-)

Choices [tag: verse: choices]: This is Sark's main RP 'verse and the one that is most active. It is a x-over/panfandom 'verse with Alias,Heroes and Buffy the Vampire Slayer mostly and started about a year post-canon for him. In it he met and is quite close with Adam Monroe (changehistory), working with him and doing various jobs for him. He's also befriended Sylar (heroslayer) and through him, Mohinder Suresh (capableof_both). He's engaged to Baileigh Solis (deep_red_bells), a Slayer, and still works as an "independent contractor" -- assassin and spy -- taking jobs around the world, though Adam's trying to persuade him to take a more permanent position within the Company he's rebuilding.

Post Canon AU [tag: verse: post canon au]: Sark's working independently, considering building up his own empire, but mostly taking jobs from the highest bidder still, not associated with any one coalition permanently. He's found out, however, that the woman Vaughn killed was not actually Lauren Reed, but a double, and that Lauren (dancewithadevil) is alive. He has mixed feelings about this. The woman he loves is alive. She hasn't contacted him in 3 years. He's happy. He's cranky. He's conflicted. There's lots of snark. It's lots of fun.

Rachel [tag: verse: rachel]: Set one year post canon as well, Sark, on a job in Los Angeles, made contact once again with Rachel Gibson (my_strappyshoes). At first tentative (what with the whole torturing her and blowing up her office thing), they eventually rekindled their fling, and then watched as it surprised them by growing into something more. They had to keep it secret, as obvioulsy Sydney and Vaughn wouldn't approve, but when Rachel was captured and tortured on a mission, and Sark exacted a rather gruesome vengeance on the man responsible, Syd, at least, suspected something. Afterwards, Rachel resigned from APO, and they have sort of settled into a life together, him taking his jobs and going off, then coming back while she works from home with her mad computer skillz.

AU [tag: verse: au]: So needs a better name, but it's a highly, highly AU verse where Irina raised Sydney, taking her with her when she left Jack, and so Sark and Sydney pretty much grew up together, training together and developing a sort of relationship rather young. PSL with neverseenbeauty. May be moved to whichineverhad journal.

hearts_andminds[tag: verse: h&m]: Sark enters Haurvatat immediately following escaping Michael Vaughn in the season finale of S5. He's got a bullet in his leg, but he's alive, which is more than he can say for most of his compatriots.
